Northville Hills

Very nice, challenging course...in good shape too! Some really nice holes with good fairways and greens. The bathrooms were really something with beadboard, cute color and carpeting! Good price to golf. Cart girl was always around and good selection on food at the turn. I'd like to play this course again.

Stonehedge South, Augusta, MI

Stonehedge was very nice...in very good shape. I guess all the rain has really helped the courses. Some of the fairways are a little tight...side by side with other holes which I don't really like but I did enjoy playing this course even though it was very hot today. Didn't see any bathrooms - other than the clubhouse of course...maybe I wasn't looking in the right spot!

Yarrow, Augusta

Spent Friday & Saturday at Yarrow Golf & Conference Center...what a lovely place! We got rained out after 11 holes on Friday (we were offered a 9 hole raincheck) and golfed 18 on Saturday. The course was wet (of course) but we just had to do 90 degree. We really enjoyed this course - everything was in beautiful condition. The fairways were well maintained and the greens, even though wet, were in good shape. The course was kind of long for us because two in our party had not golfed 18 yet this year. They had some really fun par 3s. The accomodations were nice, with breakfast included which was very good. My only "complaint" is that there is only one course here...otherwise I'd never leave! We're golfing at Stonehedge today near Gull Lake. I will definitely come back to Yarrow!

Willow Metro Park, New Boston

Today was a beautiful day for golf...unfortunately, the course was very, very wet. And, surprise, cart path only! So it was kind of a rough golf day, no roll on the ball and puddles everywhere. There was a lot of sand on the greens also. I don't know if they put it there on purpose to dry them out but it made putting kind of difficult. The tee boxes were full of aeration holes which was odd, and it was kind of hard to find a level spot on some of the women's tee boxes. On the plus side, the bathrooms were open (actual bathrooms - not porta potties) and they had fresh sandwiches. Beer is cheap and it only cost $16 to golf 18 holes with a cart...can't beat that!

Carleton Glen, Carleton

We golfed at Carleton Glenn today for the first time this year...and it hasn't changed much from last year! Still no women tees on a lot of the holes - we golf off the fairway (as you can see by the picture). And the tee boxes they do have are so uneven, it's hard to find a level spot. It was pretty crowded, considering that it's a little on the high cost side ($36). We only paid $25 at Eagle Crest in Ypsilant and that's a beautifully kept course! And I never like it when the snack bar doesn't have sandwiches...I can't understand that. But back to the course - the fairways were OK, still a bit wet (see picture) and the greens weren't too bad, but they weren't that good either. And there should be a ball cleaner at every hole... But, if you're with the right people, golf anywhere is fun and fortunately we golfed with the right people, so overall, a good day!

Whispering Willows, Livonia

Just got back from golfing Whispering Willows...it was cold and wet...cart path only. But I rolled in the hole on a par 5 from about 85 - 90 yards out and birdied a par4 so I must be a bad weather golfer! The course was wet, wet, wet and they're still building the club house (they were doing that last time I golfed there in December 2009!). And they're still doing some work on the course hopefully, they'll do some work on the tee boxes. The fairways were not bad and the greens, though really hard, were not too bad. It's kind of an expensive course, I think, for the quality but I signed up for Livonia golf's birthday special and golf for me was free! And they were nice enough to give me a windshield for the cart.

Raisin River East, Monroe, MI

18 holes on Raisin River today...kind of cold again but pretty nice for golf. Not too crowded though we had to wait at most holes...there was a foursome that was holding up the single in front of us. Tee boxes were OK, greens were nice, rough was rough --- grass needed to be cut on some holes. Didn't loose too many balls, bathrooms were unlocked and clean, what else can you ask for!

Taylor Meadows, Taylor

Taylor Meadows today...it was kind of cold so the course was very empty, which was nice. The course was, of course, a little wet because it's been raining for days, but overall, was in nice shape. The women's tee boxes are right by the mens, pretty much, so they were OK. Some of the greens were kind of mushy but overall, not bad.

Lakes of Taylor, Taylor, MI

Golfed Lakes of Taylor today. Course was very, very wet cause of all the rain yesterday and last night so it was cart path only. This is a hard course to do cart path only...especially if all your shots are the opposite side of the cart path! There was lots of wet spots which made it kind of hard to hit. So today, the course was not in the best condition. It's a very hard course for women I think...I lost lots of balls! Bathrooms were open and clean - no cart service but it's early in the season. We ate "upstairs" after and the food was excellent, as was the service. We sat outside after, had a drink and watched the leagues take off but there were huge bees which made it kind of hard to relax.
